ORGANIZATIONS & GROUPS
Adult Baby
Sitters
care for toddlers and pre-schoolers during the 10:30am Mass on
Sunday. This service allows parents an opportunity for prayerful participation at Mass.
Altar Servers
Girls and boys (grade 4 and up) are trained to assist the Priest
at Mass and at other liturgical celebrations.
Baptismal Team
A couple from the parish assists parents in their preparation for
their child’s Baptism. Generally, sessions are held every second month in the
church hall. On the day of Baptism various couples assist the priest.
Canadian Food
for Children
On the third Sunday of the month parishioners donate non-perishable
food items for distribution to children outside of Canada. Volunteers
sort and deliver food to a Kitchener depot.
Catholic Women’s
League (C.W.L.)
Members assist with lunches at funerals, do fund-raising to
support parish initiatives and various charities, conduct prayer
services at nursing homes and do community volunteer work. (Link...)
Cenacle of
Prayer
Each Friday, following the 8:00am Mass, members gather to recite the
Rosary and various other prayers.
Children’s
‘Liturgy of the Word’
To enable children (JK-grade 2) to hear and discuss the Gospel on
their own level, this program is offered at the 10:30am Sunday Mass.
Children begin Mass upstairs, are led to the hall for their lesson and
return at Offertory time.
Choirs
Praise Choir
Members (Grade 5 to Seniors) provide music at the 7:00pm Saturday
evening mass, accompanied by a variety of instruments. Weekly practice
is on Wednesdays at 7:15pm.
Adult Choir
Each Sunday (September to June) at the 10:30am Sunday Mass,
members lead the congregational singing. Weekly practice is on
Thursdays at 7:00pm. A CD of their music is available for purchase.
Resurrection
Choir
Funeral liturgies are enhanced by the music of this choir.
Church Library
Located in the church hall, the library is open on Sundays from
9:00am to 12 noon. Books, CD’s, etc. are available on loan.
Cursillo
As a following of a three day seminar on evangelization in the
home, school and workplace, members continue to meet at 7:00am each
second Saturday of the month in the church hall.
Eucharistic
Ministers
Parishioners are entrusted with special ministry of distributing
Communion at Mass, taking Communion to the hospital, to nursing homes
and to shut-ins.
Knights of
Columbus (K. of C.)
This organization (open to men 18 years of age and over) assists
Church and Community needs through a variety of fund-raising projects.
Members are committed to making their Community a better place and to
supporting their parish Church.
Lectors
During Sunday Mass readers proclaim God’s message as found in the
Old Testament and non-Gospel sections of the New Testament. They also
lead the ‘Special Intentions’ of the Mass.
Parish Council
This is a consultative body which advises and supports the Pastor.
They address parish needs and help unify the parish through
co-ordination of an annual Parish Breakfast and an annual Pasta
Supper.
Prayer Network
This prayer network of volunteers provides confidential prayerful
support to people with various prayer intentions.
Rite of
Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)
New members are welcomed into our Church through a varied,
experiential and personal introduction to Catholicism.
This process is
intended for unbaptized persons, those baptized in another Christian
denomination, those baptized as Roman Catholic who have never learned
about or practised Catholicism. The program runs from September to
Easter.
Rosary Makers
This group makes rosaries for the missions as well as promoting
rosary making and use in the schools.
Sacristans
Volunteers care for the sacred vessels, launder church linens and
beautify the church with flowers.
St. Vincent de
Paul
Parish volunteers assist individuals and families in emergency
situations with food as well as with some basic necessities of life.
They also assist families at Christmas time with food and toys through
the generosity of parishioners both monthly and via the ‘Giving Tree’
at Christmas.
Ushers
procure Gift Bearers for the Offertory procession, collect
monetary offerings, distribute Sunday bulletins.They also assist
with seating when required.
Young
Adults
A group of young adult Catholics in their 20's and 30's who meet
for faith building discussions and social events.
