LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
Jesus calls each of us to serve in accordance with the gifts we have been given. He calls us to serve with joy, and St. Clement Parish provides many opportunities to do so. Doing so, we are the face of the Church to all whose lives we touch.
Please prayerfully consider the following ministries and be in touch with the Parish Office for more information if you would like to take part. You will be warmly welcomed!

WITHIN OUR WORSHIP ...
Altar Servers
Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Lectors
Ushers
- Children in Grade 4 and up, after a period of training, assist Father at Lord's Day Masses and at weddings.
Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
- Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist Father with distributing the Eucharist at Lord's Day Masses.
- Those who are able, on completion of volunteer screening, bring the Eucharist to sick and shut-in parishioners. These visits take place at homes and in the hospital and nursing homes.
Lectors
- At the beginning of Lord's Day Masses, we are welcomed by a Lector who reads an introduction. During Mass, Lectors proclaim God’s message in the Old Testament and Epistle. They also read the Intercessory Prayers which follow the homily; and before the final blessing, they read any announcements.
- To truly proclaim involves practise and prayerful consideration of the Sunday readings so that they are delivered with clarity and understanding.
Ushers
- Our ushers greet those who attend Lord's Day Masses, assist with seating and invite people to act as Gift Bearers for the Offertory procession. During the Preparation of the Gifts, they collect the monetary offerings of the congregation; and as people leave Mass, the ushers distribute the Sunday bulletin.
ENHANCING OUR WORSHIP ...
Praise Choir
Leaders: Sharon Pawelko & Angie Castiglione
For over 40 years, the Praise Choir has been helping to celebrate the Saturday evening Mass at St. Clement's (now at 5:00 p.m.) A highlight of each year is their music at the Holy Saturday Easter Vigil.
It is always open to new members who wish to join. Currently, they are in short supply of male voices - so, men, you are especially welcome!
They sing and play from mid-September until Mother's Day (the second Sunday of May). Then they take a summer break. Practices are held in church on Wednesday evenings from 7:15 until about 8:30 p.m. If interested in joining, please obtain contact information from the Parish Office.
Celebration Choir
Director: Marilynn Franks ([email protected])
Our long-standing Celebration Choir sings at the Sunday 11:00 a.m. Mass and prides itself in welcoming newcomers. The ability to read music, although helpful, is not necessary – but the love of singing, a willingness to learn and a sense of humour are musts. Just as important is a commitment to regular attendance at Sunday Mass, and rehearsals, which are held Thursday evenings from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the choir loft. For additional info, please email Marilynn (address above).
Resurrection Choir
Director: Marilynn Franks ([email protected])
Our Resurrection Choir, provides music for all funerals. Its members have a commitment to not only enhancing the funeral liturgy, but to bringing comfort to the bereaved.
The ability to read music is helpful, but NOT necessary. The love of singing and a willingness to learn, are absolute musts.
The choir has a "come-when-you-can" policy, with members being contacted as the need arises. Practises are held on an "occasional basis" only.
The choir is very welcoming to newcomers, and invites anyone available to sing during the morning hours, to join them.
For additional info, please email Marilynn (address above).
Cantors (Individual Singers)
This well-established diocesan programme just began in our parish in 2016. It is an extension of what parish choirs do – helping the people raise their hearts to God.
Cantors lead the congregational singing, and it is a very important & rewarding ministry.
To be a cantor is a great opportunity for those who have musical ability and love to sing, but do not wish to commit to weekly choir practises.
This is not a weekly commitment, but would be geared to your availability.
For additional info, please email Marilynn (address above).

AND WHILE WE WORSHIP ...
Children’s Liturgy
On Sundays from September to June, adult volunteers offer this programme for two groups of youngsters -- JK to Grade 2, and Grades 3/4 -- in the Parish Hall at the Sunday 11:00 a.m. Mass. After hearing and discussing the Gospel at their own level, the children return upstairs at Offertory time.
Church Library
Our Church library is located in the Parish Hall and open year round. Interesting and educational spiritual resources are available including books to suit any age and a variety of current CD's and DVD videos. Our resources encompass liturgical seasons as well as materials for sacramental preparation. The parish library resources are beneficial for those involved in the RCIA Programs as well as anyone interested in growing in their faith.
